Developing Skills as a Wellbeing Champion

Monique Dunn worked as a Retail Store Manager while studying our Wellbeing Champion Qualification. She tells us how her journey led to meaningful changes in both her personal growth and workplace culture.

The course helped me develop new skills

My role involves overseeing operations, supporting my team, and ensuring customer satisfaction in a fast-paced retail environment. As a manager, I play a vital role in fostering a supportive and productive workplace culture, which aligns closely with the wellbeing training offered at COPA.

Before starting my qualification, I had an extensive background in retail, gaining valuable experience in customer service, team leadership, and problem-solving. However I recognised the need to further develop my skills to better support my team and address challenges in the role.

Studying the Wellbeing Champion course is Transformative

The Wellbeing Champion Qualification has been transformative. It’s boosted my confidence in addressing complex situations and provided a deeper understanding of the factors influencing wellbeing.

I gained practical tools and strategies to create a healthier and more supportive work environment, empowering me to address issues proactively and empathetically. The qualification has created a happier, more open team. My colleagues now feel confident discussing their concerns, knowing they’ll receive the support they need.

Improved Team Morale

The training has led to noticeable changes in the workplace. My team is more collaborative and engaged, with improved communication and morale. My ability to apply the learning has fostered a culture of trust and openness, where team members feel valued and supported.

I particularly appreciated the opportunity to learn alongside a diverse group of people. Sharing experiences with peers from different industries provided fresh insights and ideas I could apply in the workplace. These opportunities not only enriched my understanding of wellbeing but they enhanced my ability to view challenges from multiple perspectives.

Improved Organisation and Resilience

Balancing assignments with my busy work schedule was a significant challenge. However, I gradually learned to manage my time effectively, improving my ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks. By doing so, I became more organised and resilient, which has benefited both my learning and professional responsibilities.

I hope to give back to my local community, using these newfound skills to make a positive impact outside of work. I also intend to continue my personal and professional development, exploring new opportunities to grow as a leader and wellbeing advocate.
